Why do I want a driver with the water truck, why not rent one and operate it myself?
A truck without a driver is a rental and therefore a taxable transaction.  A truck and driver is a service and not taxable.  A truck rental will usually require the renter to provide fuel, and any required service, i.e. tires, damages, insurance, etc.  When you rent, these additional costs appear as add-ons, and you pay for the entire rental period, not just the time used.  If you supply the driver, then you’re also incurring payroll and payroll taxes to add to your costs for an employee who may not be proficient in this duty or certified by Maricopa County Air Quality Department.  Additionally, all Agua trucks require a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a Tanker Endorsement.    <<Back to Top>>

Why are independent spray heads important?
Many water trucks have only three sets of controls:  one for both back sprays, one for both front sprays, and one for the side or top spray.  Our water trucks have independent spray controls for each spray head allowing the driver to direct the spray to any one or combination of spray heads.  This is particularly beneficial for operating in neighborhoods, confined or heavy traffic areas.  Agua Trucks Inc does not spray vertical construction, and this additional control allows Agua Trucks Inc to cover areas other trucks would either deliver unwanted water to or miss entirely in one pass.  The fewer passes required, the less time required, and the less cost to the customer.   <<Back to Top>>

What is included in the one hour minimum?
There are no charges for driving to your site.  The clock starts when the water truck arrives at your water source and ends when we leave your site.  If your water source is not located on your site (as in Goodyear), drive time from the water source to your site would be included in your charges.  In this way, you get what you pay for, a water truck working on your site.  After the first hour, Agua Trucks Inc charges by the quarter hour, so if Agua Trucks is on site for 70 minutes, you pay for only 75 minutes, not 120 minutes.  The rate is the same whether we are filling our truck, spraying from the truck, or using a hose to distribute water from the truck.  Additionally, Agua Trucks Inc provides all route customers a log of service performed for inclusion in their Dust Log for Maricopa County Air Quality.

What does Maricopa County Air Quality department have to do with the service?
Due to the failure of Maricopa County to meet the EPA’s air quality standards for PM10, federal funding for roads and improvements is in jeopardy for the county.  Maricopa County Air Quality department has modeled their new rules after those of Clark County, Nevada (Clark County met the standards using these rules).  Maricopa County has already added staff to a total of 81 inspectors to ensure enforcement of the rules at all hours, which additionally requires all Water Truck and Water Pull drivers to be certified and registered with them no later than 12/31/08.  All Agua Trucks Inc. water truck drivers are registered and certified.   Agua Trucks Inc. is also a registered subcontractor with Maricopa County. The new rules are available in their entirety on the Maricopa County Air Quality department website.

My trades take care of dust, why do I need a water truck service?
We hear this often, but it doesn’t make financial sense when you consider:  If your trade is using a 4000 gallon truck the charge is probably around $90 per hour.  If you direct him to take care of areas he’s not working in, it costs much more than having a separate service and takes him longer to do the job you hired him for.  Actually, with the new rule changes you could be in for a real shock!  As you, the property owner or construction manager are now responsible for all vacant dirt, haul and access roads, dirt piles, and unpaved parking lots.  Dust may not cross over the property line!  Maricopa County Air Quality accepts no excuses.  If they cannot identify a vehicle causing the problem, the NOV (Notice of Violation) goes to the owner or company in charge of the site (who holds the dust permit).

I'm not in construction, but I have vacant dirt.  I understand I am responsible to control dust from the property.  What are my options outside of getting fined?
There are actually a couple of options, depending on the amount of traffic on the land, the size of the property, availability of water to the site, and the amount of time it will be a concern, etc.:

 1.  It can be sprayed with water on a regular basis to develop a crust and thereafter minimally to maintain the crust.  Agua Trucks Inc.can both spray the water and test the crust.
            2.  It can be stabilized with a soil stabilizer (commonly known as dirt glue).  Agua Trucks Inc can apply the soil stabilizer.
For the complete dust rules go to the Maricopa County Air Quality website at www.maricopa.gov/aq/.    <<Back to Top>>

Why do other companies have add-ons?

Add-ons are often for fuel.
Fuel is part of what it takes to get the equipment to the job site to do the job!  Agua Trucks Inc doesn’t understand why this is not included in other companies’ service.  While our trucks are not fuel efficient, fuel is a cost of doing business.  Agua Trucks Inc would expect to be charged the quoted price and that’s how we operateShould Agua Trucks Inc have to change our prices due to an increase in the cost of doing business, we will notify all existing customers before the change date and the change will be part of the service charge.  <<Back to Top>>

Why would I pick an Agua Trailer Rental over an Agua Truck Service?

The Agua Trailer (Water Wagon) is a 500 gallon tank on a tandem axle trailer with a 5.5 hp pump that has both garden hose and 1.5 inch hose connections and a rear spray bar.  It can be towed to distribute water from the rear, or remain stationary for hose access on demand.  This can mean water is available to your trades on demand, and at any hour.  The Agua Trailer can be used to supplement the truck service or stand alone depending on your needs.  Additional charges associated with rentals are: taxes, and may include delivery and insurance.  Delivery charges are dependent on rental period.  Insurance is dependent on the rental agreement.    <<Back to Top>>

What if I don’t have a water source?

Agua Trucks Inc may provide water at an additional cost.  In this case, there may be some drive time charges to accompany this service depending on location of your site and our water source.  Any additional cost(s) will be detailed on your invoice.

Why is there a minimum charge?

Since Agua Trucks Inc does not charge drive time, we must charge at least a minimum one hour per job in order to assure our expenses are covered.  Depending on the water source, it may take 8 minutes to fill a truck and 8 minutes to empty.  If you only need one load distributed, we still had to pay a driver, buy fuel, get to your job site and to the next job site.  The industry standard seems to be two hour minimums, but if we've completed the job in less time than that, we want the customer to recognize that we aren't grossing up the bill or double booking our time.

What happens when I pass my minimum charge?
Each job is recorded on a log sheet by the driver starting with arrival time.  When the job is completed, the time is recorded in Time-Out and duties performed are logged in the description line.  If the time elapsed is over one hour, the total time is calculated at quarter hour intervals.  This means if the truck was working on your site for 70 minutes the bill would reflect one and a quarter hours, not two hours as many of our competitors (who often start with a two hour minimum).

Do you ever do small jobs?
Most of our work is in the construction field.  However, we have had the opportunity to provide dust control at several outdoor events such as Carnivals and Fall Festivals.  Any time an event license (permit) requires dust control be provided on a vacant field or parking lot , call us.  Since we do operate evenings and weekends we can usually accommodate the needs of your event.   <<Back to Top>>

What areas do you work in?
Almost all of our work has been in Maricopa County.  That is the area of our expertise, at least where dust rules are concerned.  <<Back to Top>>

Can you apply a dirt stabilizer?
Yes, and it would be colored as per Maricopa County Air Quality department specifications.  It is not something that we stock however, due to the variety of levels of need and volume required.  If interested, we require a number of pieces of information be provided and we can then provide a bid on the job.  Required information would include:  area to be covered, amount of traffic on said area, and time required to be stabilized.

Can you fill a swimming pool?
The simple answer at this time is No.  For health concerns, you want potable water to fill a swimming pool regardless of the amount of chemicals you'll be adding to the pool.  At this time, we do not have potable water tanks.  Depending on the water source it may be potable going into our tanks, but would not be certified so coming out of our tanks.  All Agua Trucks Inc tanks are labeled "NON POTABLE" at this time.  If you have this need we may be able to provide names and numbers, call us.  <<Back to Top>>
